Swiss Cooperation Programme in Tanzania 2026–2029
Switzerland contributes to inclusive and climate-resilient socio-economic development in Tanzania through two complementary priority areas: stronger systems and institutions, and improved livelihoods and civic space.
Stronger systems and institutions
Switzerland works with partners in Tanzania to strengthen health and governance systems, public financial management, evidence-based policymaking and institutional capacities. This includes advancing digital data systems, accountability and anti-corruption efforts, with particular attention to the needs of vulnerable populations.
Improved livelihoods and civic space
Switzerland promotes economic inclusion through social protection, skills development, youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and inclusive markets. It also works to strengthen an enabling civic space, supporting access to reliable information and meaningful participation in decision-making, particularly for women, young people and marginalised groups.
Transversal themes
Gender equality, climate resilience, human rights and good governance are integrated across the programme, supporting social cohesion, accountable institutions and long-term resilience.
